Titivating - Just Exactly What Did Len Mean?

Last night I learned what titivating means by watching the TV show "Dancing With The Stars". It's a good thing that Len (the older English judge) explained it to everyone because when he used the word, he was critiquing Pamela Anderson. I was thinking of a meaning completely different as I am sure everyone else was by their reactions. I mean when you are talking to Pamela Anderson it is hard not to be thinking of something other than her best assets.

I decided to take Len's advice and Googled the word even though he explained what it meant on the show. He was right, the definition of titivating is to smarten up oneself. Although I can't help thinking that Len had his mind elsewhere. Even though he is a stiff, old English man, he is still a man and if you were watching the same performance that I was, then dancing was the last thing on your mind.

Pamela did a great job. She was totally in character and her dancing was great for not having any experience. This was the best acting I've ever seen her pull off. She had the whole Marilyn Monroe thing going for her and it was working as Bruno descriptively pointed out.

I believe Len and Bruno were thinking the same thing, but Bruno never hesitates to say what he thinks when it comes to sexuality and Len on the flip side of things, is more proper and reserved so the thoughts might be reflected in his choice of words in this example. Sure the word means to smarten up, but there are other words that could have been used to get the same meaning across.
